David Miranda detention at Heathrow was lawful, high court ruled
The judges say, detention of former Guardian journalist's partner was justified by 'very pressing' interests of national security. David Miranda lives with journalist Glenn Greenwald who has written articles about state surveillance based on leaked documents.
Authors for Peace condemns High Court decision:
The High Court ruling against David Miranda is not real justice but realpolitik. Such a verdict would never be possible at the European Court of Justice and sadly shows how the UK increasingly fails to match European standards of freedom. The misguided cut-backs of Cameron's government have infected the very political system: welcome to austerity democracy, where even justice is piecemeal.
