An event to mark the ten year anniversary of 9/11
Authors for Peace is working with the internationales literaturfestival berlin again - this time to mark the ten-year anniversary of 9/11, which falls during the festival period, 7-17 September 2011.
The festival will have a series of events to commemorate 9/11. The main event, proposed and partly organized by Authors for Peace co-founder, Priya Basil, will be a sort of 'literary concert', held on September 11th 2011.
The terrorist attacks on America in 2001, and the violent response to them, have defined the beginning of the twenty-first century. Measures taken since then haven’t really made our world safer. All the efforts to protect ‘freedom’ seem to have left us more restricted and made us more cautious.
During the event authors from around the world will take to the stage one after another. Each will spend five to six minutes offering different perspectives on the last decade and the theme of the evening. The event will be hosted by Priya Basil.
