„A Soul for Europe“ Konferenz
10.+11. November 2017
Radialsystem V

7.15 – 8.45 pm Public debate “Who is assuming responsibility for Europe?
How citizens, cities and parliaments should cooperate for Europe”
Citizens are the cause and goal of the European Union. However, those citizens, as well as the cities and regions they live in, represent not only the basis of Europe – they are also jointly responsible for the success of the European unification process. This panel discussion confronts the citizens with the top-down mechanisms of everyday life in Europe. It demands for new methods of sharing responsibility in order for the European unification process to succeed.
The opening event will discuss statements of representatives from each level of political responsibility: Emil Boc (Mayor of Cluj-Napoca), Elmar Brok (MEP; President Union of European Federalists), Karl-Heinz Lambertz (President Committee of the Regions), Gerry Woop (State Secretary for European Affairs, City of Berlin), Juan Gabriel Vásquez (writer)
The panel is moderated by Laura Kleiner, Carin Tiggeloven members of the initiative “Wir sind Europa!” and Volker Hassemer, Chairman of Stiftung Zukunft Berlin.
